Teeth Grinding

CerezenLots of patients clench or grind their teeth during the day and also whilst they’re asleep without even knowing that they’re doing it. This can cause the loss of the protective shell of the tooth (enamel) which in time can result in sensitivity and also pain in the jaw joints, headaches and tension in one’s head, neck, shoulders and back.

The treatment of clenching/grinding is tricky as everybody responds differently to different treatment types. At Forest Road Dental Practice we are proud providers of the exciting Cerezen treatment solution for this debilitating condition.

Mouthguards are a fantastic way of protecting one’s teeth from the effects of clenching/grinding however, some patients cannot tolerate wearing a mouthguard due to having a sensitive gag reflex or simply finding the feeling of a mouthguard in their mouth uncomfortable and foreign.
Cerezen is a revolutionary product that works on a subconscious level and is actually worn in your ear canal so is invisible to the eye and let’s you wear it all day and carry on with your daily activity without having to wear something over your teeth. Many patients, including our own Principal Dentist DrJanjua wear the Cerezen device and have found it to be a really convenient and discreet way of treating your symptoms.

If you feel you may be suffering from any of the above symptoms, always speak with your dentist.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Cerezen?

Cerezen is a type of treatment device that is an alternative to wearing a night guard or sometimes called mouthguard to protect your teeth from the effects of clenching or grinding. Your dentist will get you to fill out an assessment form to check if the Cerezen appliance is right for you. If you decide it is something you would like to proceed with, the dentist will arrange for you to see a highly qualified audiologist who we work with closely to take an accurate mould of your ear canal.

It is from this mould that a completely bespoke Cerezen device is made for your ears. The dentist will arrange for you to return to see them once we have received your Cerezen device from the laboratory and try them on to ensure you’re happy.

How does it work?

The device ‘speaks’ to your brain on a subconscious level and gradually helps to stop you from clenching before it begins to affect your teeth whilst also helping with the tension pain one can get from this habit.
